A few years ago, I was hanging out with some friends of mine and the idea of having a theme song for the year came up. I had not ever thought of having one before. After some thought, I chose the song "Jump" by Madonna. At that time, I had wanted to leave my job and do something new and different with my life.
The lyrics of the song (from azlyrics) are:
"Jump"
There's only so much you can learn in one place
The more that I wait, the more time that I waste
I haven't got much time to waste
It's time to make my way
I'm not afraid of what I'll face
But I'm afraid to stay
I'm going down my road and I can make it alone
I'll work and I'll fight till I find a place of my own
[Chorus]
Are you ready to jump
Get ready to jump
Don't ever look back oh baby
Yes, I'm ready to jump
Just take my hand
get ready to jump
We learned our lesson from the start
My sisters and me
The only thing you can depend on
Is your family
Life's gonna drop you down like the limbs from a tree
It sways and it swings and it bends until it makes you see
[Chorus]
Are you ready?
There's only so much you can learn in one place
The more that you wait
The more time that you waste
I'll work and I'll fight till I find a place of my own
It sways and it swings and it bends until you make it your own
I can make it alone [repeat]
(my sisters and me)
[Chorus X2]
Great lyrics, don't you think? I even had that song for my ringtone.
In case you're wondering, it actually took me years to make the jump. Apparently, having a great theme song alone wasn't enough to help me out of the rut I found myself in!
The seed of change was planted but for a long time, I lived in the land of "I don't know." I didn't know what I wanted to do. I only knew what I didn't want to do. I was stuck for years.
Have you ever had that experience?
At that time, I didn't know that the "I don't knows" were keeping me suspended in never never happening land because it had cut me off from my knowing and Universal Intelligence.
Abraham (the collective of non-physical beings channelled by Esther Hicks of "Ask & And It Is Given" fame) have said that we get the information or the 'truths' we are most proximate to. So, I guess when you're in "I don't know" mode, you get more "I don't knows"!
What I should have been saying then was "What do I need to know for my life to be in alignment with who I am which would change everything and bring me greatest fulfillment now?" (This is a take on an Access Consciousness question - more on that another time.)
I still think that having a theme song for the year or for a time is a great idea. I think a catchy theme song which is in alignment with what you want to achieve can remind you of your goals and help you to keep on keeping on. Your theme song can encourage you when things seem bleak and all looks lost.
For 2013, I have decided I am going to have a theme song and this time I am going to work it! I will let you know what it is on New Year's Day.
For now, I am leaving you with all my love and the official video of Madonna's Jump which is especially dedicated to all of you who want to make life changes. I want you to know I feel you and I love you!
